This was supposed to be my rest day, per my 30 Day Challenge on EA Sports Active for the Wii. But the last time I took a rest day, it turned into a whole weekend of no working out, which was NO BUENO for the kid! I wanted to work on one of my trouble spots (my abs) and keep the workout momentum going, so I decided to take it back to the Sports and Fitness channel on onDemand.
I went back to FITTV on XFINITY onDemand today and I did the Abs Only workout with Mike Chang. ( I should have known better, Mike Chang always gives me the business and leaves me begging for mercy by the end of the workout). Mike Chang kicked my BOOTAY today (and I thought he was supposed to only work the abs, silly me) The description for this workout wants you to feel the burn as you work those abs, while the master of the mid section Mike Chang guides you through open leg crunches, reverse crunches, pendulums, front kicks and high knees.
What they fail to mention is that the pendulums make your legs, arms, bootay and abs burn and the high knees is really just running in place, and those front kicks are KILLER. This 20 minute workout, worked me OUT! The open leg crunches focused on the upper part of the abs and the sides (oh lawd) the pendulum had me rocking my legs back and forth while I balanced on my hands, and it worked my core, my legs, shoulders and arms (have mercy on me Jesus). I thought the front kicks would be like the ones you do in kickboxing, (boy was I wrong) You kicked your leg up to reach your hand and crunched your abs all at the same time, working my abs and my legs out. (JESUS) The high knees were really me running in place and doing low knees, while breathing hard and watching the world spin around me and trying to go out of focus.
We ended this lovely workout (said dripping with sarcasm) with a cool down doing planks (REALLY, REALLY!) QUESTION: Am I supposed to be shaking while I am planking? Because my WHOLE body was shaking and trembling, and oh yeah I was doing a whole lot of sweating!
So all in all my rest day worked me over and gave me the business, so excuse me now while I go lay out in the middle of my living room floor and wait for my abs and legs to stop shaking.
FOCUSED AND DETERMINED!
Technically, I am behind two days because I took a couple of days off this past weekend to hang out with my family. Me and my little clan attended 3 birthday parties, a Fabulous Ladies Nite with some Fabulous women, church and some quality time with the people I love the most, but that is another story for another day!

Even though I hurt myself, I powered on and modified some of those wonderful lunge jumps so I could complete my workout. I do need to add some more variety to my workout though. I get bored and I am easily distracted by everything else that is going on in my life right now, so it is quite easy for me to go do something else instead of working out. I am trying to stay focused and positive although my scale is not being very helpful and is not moving at all! (I am happy it is not moving up, although I would be much happier if it would move down). I am eating better these days (thanks 40 day Fast) so that should definitely help.

Along with my 30 day challenge I am doing the 40 days of Fasting & Praying with my church. This week is not as bad as last week. Where I was struggling to find things that would fill us up and give me enough energy/desire to work out. I am not a big vegetable eater, and I only eat beans when my mama makes them on New Years Day! I like almonds (before I would go nowhere near a nut unless it was wrapped up in a snickers bar) and I actually
enjoy get through my apples and celery these days if they are covered in peanut butter! Beans & rice are still not my favorite things in the world, but if you wrap them up in a whole wheat tortilla with a little bit of lettuce you have a not so bad meal! I have found a little bit of balance, and I am so glad about it!

Today’s workout focused on the upper body and toning. (which is code for lots of running and lunges). What I do like about the EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge is that they give you different exercises every day that help you focus on different parts of your body, AND they require you to rest every two days. (Now you gotta love that!)

They were not playing with me today! I made it through all of the exercises (barely breathing & not quite standing) but I did it! Now I need to go shower and pray for the strength to keep it up and wait patiently for results. I did not gain all this weight in a week, I guess I can not lose it in a week either.
I started the EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge today! Per the website, www.easportsactiveonline.com, you complete two days of exercise for every one day of rest. EA SPORTS Active isn’t just a workout – but a holistic plan that gives your body a chance to rest between periods of activity. Rest allows your body to replenish energy stores and repair damaged tissues. This is supposed to help me progress faster towards my goals and I am less likely to injure myself if I include rest as part of my plan. (always a good thang!)

I was feeling out of sorts and more than a little blue.
I was battling a bout laziness.
I wanted to eat a whole (and I do mean whole) Portillos chocolate cake. (thank God I am broke)
Needed to figure out how to fix my vacuum cleaner because I was tired of picking food off of the floor by hand. (thanks kiddos)
Was gearing up for the 40 days of fasting and praying (Because I am in desperate need of direction and clarity in my life)
Wanted an Instyler and this thing called furniture fix to for my sagging couch (Yes, I watch to many infomercials and yes, I am easily influenced by the sales people on the TV. No judging!)
Was tired and unfocused.
I got up with a renewed sense of purpose and a prayerful heart.

Is thanking God for my husband who fixed my vacuum cleaner. (Praise him!)

Yesterday was not a particularly good day, but Today was definitely better and I am grateful for it!
There is a cell phone sitting on the couch that Mookie and Bear play with. Bear picks up the phone while Mookie plays on the floor with some flash cards. Mookie sees Bear with the phone and all h-e double hockey sticks breaks out. There are now two kids running madly through the house screaming at the top of their lungs. Mookie is chasing Bear around the dining room table screaming “Mine, Mine, Mine!” while Bear runs around the table screaming, “No, I had it first, No you can’t have everything, No leave me alone, Nooooooooooo!
Bear drops the phone and takes off to find a new toy. Mookie keeps walking around the table screaming, “I need my phone, I need to talk, I need my phone.” Bear grabs the toy vacuum cleaner and starts to play, Mookie finds his phone and starts talking on it. He then spies Bear with the new toy and the madness starts AGAIN! This time with a toy 5 times the size of the phone and 5 times heavier, and they are back to running around the table. Whatever she has, he wants and he is willing to do bodily harm to get it.
I guess it’s time for me to be the adult and step in before someone gets hurt……too late,in his effort to get to Bear and win, Mookie took a short cut across one of the couches and jumped and hit his head! (fun time people, fun times!)
Disclaimer: Now I am not saying his methods are right or acceptable in our household, but the short 2 year old has managed to get both toys from the bigger, taller and (at least I really thought) stronger 6 year old!
