I DID IT! I DID IT! LO HICIMOS!

I completed the EA Sports Active for the Wii 30 Day Challenge! Now, yes it took me longer than the actual 30 days (about 38 to be exact) but that is beside the point! I made it thru to the end with very little collateral damage. Today was the very last day in the 30 Day Challenge, but not the last day of working out for me. I still have a very long way to go. I might revisit this challenge again in the near future and actually try to complete it in the 30 days. (No promises)

We mixed in just about all of the exercises that I have ever done during the course of this challenge today, giving me an overall body workout (Lawd, have mercy it did!) The focus today was my form, I can’t say I have that down pact yet, but I gave it my best shot!

So I am quite proud of myself for actually completing the 30 Day Challenge, even if it did take me 38 days. (Whatever, don’t judge me) It probably would have been a whole lot more effective if I actually followed the plan, and if I had not been sidetracked by life a lot. Next up is ZUMBA for the Wii! I found (well the husband found…thanks babe) the cd and I will be starting on Monday. Zumba for the Wii also has an exercise calendar you can follow to boost your weight loss. My goal is to workout it out Zumba style for the next 30 days!

Down But Not Out!

I have been down lately, really down. Which means I have not been motivated to workout at all! Today, I am better, but not quite where I need to be, but I knew I needed to get back on the horse and workout or it would really be over for me.

The workout today focused on the upper body. They were trying to give my legs a break from all the lunges and squats I did during the last workout. Turns out that was completely unnecessary since I have not worked out since Tuesday. (I know, I know….Bad JJ) Emphasis was placed on my arms and shoulders. I also used my hips and got a little workout on my waist during the baseball and tennis exercises.

Alternating Reverse High Knee Lunges (2x – I did really good on these my lunges are getting deeper…they don’t hurt any less but they are getting better)

Targets & Heavy Bag (Right/Left Jab, Right/Left Cross, Heavy Bag)

Lateral Shoulder Raises (2x)

Front Shoulder Raises (2x)

Pitch, Catch & Bat (Baseball, I usually do really well on this exercise, today I missed EVERYTHING!)

Run, Walk (Long – I have said it before, and I will continue to say it until somebody hears me RUNNING IS NOT A COOL DOWN!)

Because I have been such a HUGE slacker this week, I followed up my 20 Day Challenge workout with a workout from FIT TV on Xfinity. There was not a lot of cardio in my first work out, so I went with Cardio Hip Hop with Kendra Kemerley (I swear this chick looks just like Macy of off MTV’s Teen Mom). She called this a feel good workout that combined hip hop moves  with an easy to follow choreographed routine. Easy to follow not so much (I am not as young as I used to be). It did get my heart rate up and worked out my mid section (my biggest trouble spot) and worked my legs as well.

Distractions

I usually workout when the kids are not here. I prefer to workout with no one around because I don’t like to be watched. I don’t like commentary and questions about what the people on the screen are doing. (observations and complaints about the game can only be made by me, thank you very much). They try their best to be helpful, they really do, but today they were just a distraction, which made the workout twice as long as it needed to be because I had to answer questions and fight with the short people to get them to act right!

Today, Bear decided she was going to workout with me. That would have been fine, if she were doing the SAME workout as me. This chick stood right next to me, and yelled out the moves she wanted to do, instead of the ones they were actually doing on the screen. (really Bear, REALLY?) Then when she thought I was not running fast enough, or doing the exercise the way she wanted me to do them, she would yell out how I needed to keep up with the people on the screen, cause they really know what they are doing. When she got tired of working out, (Thank ya baby Jesus!) she went to the back of the family room and made up songs to the music they were playing during the workout. (YEAH!….sarcasm) How that little girl manages to be louder than the surround sound stereo is beyond me.

Mookie on the other hand decided he did not want to eat the oatmeal he specifically asked for, and sat at the table yelling, “Mommy I done! I done Mommy, I no need the oatmeal.” Over and over and over again. He finally got down and stood next to me running in place saying “I sorry Mommy, I just done, I done”. (Thanks buddy). Again louder than the stereo!

Today’s workout was intense, with the running on the track and the jumping side to side, I was really sweating in no time. EA Sports Active for the Wii tried to get a sista to do inline skating, I had to say no. Forcing someone to squat and jump after making them run tons of laps, and jump side to side is a form of torture and they are CRAZY if they thought I was going to do that! Plus I have bad knees….I’m just saying!

Truth Moment

Truth Moment: I am tired, aggravated and frustrated today. I want to give up and call it quits! I have been doing everything I am supposed to be doing (eating less & better while exercising more) and I am still not seeing any visible results. My spirits are low and I have been walking around with a headache (THIS BIG) for a couple of days. In spite of my many irritations today, I got up and exercised anyway.

Per EA Sports Active for the Wii: Today’s workout takes me back to the basics with squats, lunges,presses and rows (I’m brimming with excitement and enthusiasm people I really am!) I played a little basketball and worked on my passing and shooting. And I hit that track three (count them three) times with running, high knees and kick ups to keep my heart rate up!

30 Day Challenge (Day 4)

Technically, I am behind two days because I took a couple of days off this past weekend to hang out with my family. Me and my little clan attended 3 birthday parties, a Fabulous Ladies Nite with some Fabulous women, church and some quality time with the people I love the most, but that is another story for another day!

Even though I hurt myself, I powered on and modified some of those wonderful lunge jumps so I could complete my workout. I do need to add some more variety to my workout though. I get bored and I am easily distracted by everything else that is going on in my life right now, so it is quite easy for me to go do something else instead of working out. I am trying to stay focused and positive although my scale is not being very helpful and is not moving at all! (I am happy it is not moving up, although I would be much happier if it would move down). I am eating better these days (thanks 40 day Fast) so that should definitely help.

Preparing me for a better, happier, healthier life!

The Athlete In You (Easy)

I truly believe that the athlete in me dug a ditch, laid down in it, and died a LONG time ago. That is not to say that I don’t want her back, and I am doing everything in my power to breathe new life into her. But my lawd have mercy on me, it is hard. I am not looking to be supermodel skinny,  I just want to get back into my size 8/10. That is when I looked ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. No one thought I was bingeing/purging (if you really knew me, you would know that I love food way to much to eat it, then turn around and throw it up) or anorexic (again, I LOVE FOOD). Or that I was pregnant way before I actually was. (Yes, some people have thought all of those thing about me at one time or another).  I looked good and felt good about myself and I want that back.

I also know that part of my problem is my lack of patience. Wait my bad, I mean I have NO patience.  If I don’t see results instantly, I have a tendency to give up. Forgetting that slow and steady wins the race, and that I can not have a quick solutions to what has been a long-term problem. So here I am trying to be consistent and refusing to give up (at least for today….. who knows about tomorrow).

I did really well on the majority of these workouts, I even managed to complete most of them! All I know is that I better have some KILLER GAMS come the summer time with all these lunges and squats that I am doing, or me and EA Sports Active are going to have some serious problems…I’m just saying.
