I DID IT! I DID IT! LO HICIMOS!

I completed the EA Sports Active for the Wii 30 Day Challenge! Now, yes it took me longer than the actual 30 days (about 38 to be exact) but that is beside the point! I made it thru to the end with very little collateral damage. Today was the very last day in the 30 Day Challenge, but not the last day of working out for me. I still have a very long way to go. I might revisit this challenge again in the near future and actually try to complete it in the 30 days. (No promises)

We mixed in just about all of the exercises that I have ever done during the course of this challenge today, giving me an overall body workout (Lawd, have mercy it did!) The focus today was my form, I can’t say I have that down pact yet, but I gave it my best shot!

Summary:

Workout 20 out of 20 (Oh Yeah!)

So I am quite proud of myself for actually completing the 30 Day Challenge, even if it did take me 38 days. (Whatever, don’t judge me) It probably would have been a whole lot more effective if I actually followed the plan, and if I had not been sidetracked by life a lot. Next up is ZUMBA for the Wii! I found (well the husband found…thanks babe) the cd and I will be starting on Monday. Zumba for the Wii also has an exercise calendar you can follow to boost your weight loss. My goal is to workout it out Zumba style for the next 30 days!

Wish me luck y’all, Lawd knows I am gonna need it!

19 Down 1 to Go!

Todays workout isolated all of my upper body muscles. We did circuits that worked the biceps, triceps, shoulders and the back. In between the circuits we did sports drills. TRUTH: I was in no way, shape or form inspired to workout today. I am tired and annoyed by the fact that my kids refuse to sleep pass 2:30 am, and insist on making sure I am awake with them. (Got to love the babies…..sigh)

(P.S. This was actually written yesterday, but my son hijacked the computer last night and would not let me get near, because he was watching Dora the Explorer!)

18 Down, 2 To Go!

Man oh man, my EA Sports Active for the Wii fitness coach was not playing when she said today they were going to work me out hard! We did lunges, we did squats, we did jump lunges and jump squats (all one after the other….ouch!) We also worked on some sports drills to keep the ole heart rate up! And of course there was the mandatory running on the track and bootay kicks. Lawd have mercy on my lower body.

Tomorrow is my mandatory rest day. Hopefully, I will muster up the energy to do something active tomorrow to stay focused and on track.

Final Week of the Challenge!

I am finally at the last week of the challenge on the EA Sports Active for the Wii. (HALLELUJAH!!) Lord knows it took me way longer than it was supposed to. (This was supposed to last one month, I do believe I have managed to push this into month two….sigh!) Truth: I thought I would have quit completely by now. (I am sort of a slacker when it comes to exercise.) But, I have made it to the last week and while it took a lot of effort, I am a little proud of myself. Today’s workout put some of my sports drills into action and worked out my lower body by reviewing some of the exercises I have worked on in the past.

Summary:

Workout 16 of 20 (Four more to go!)

Calories Burned: 181.3

Workout Time: 19:14

Excercises Completed: 16 out of 16

Today’s Exercises:

Walk, Run (Long)

Squats (2x)

Standing Twists

Side to Side Jumps (2x)

Run, Knees, & Kick Ups

Squats with Calf Raises

Alternating Bicep Curls (2x)

Jump Squats

Run (Long)

Alternating Triceps Kickbacks (2x)

Dance Basic 1 (I worked it out with the Shopping Cart and the ever popular Side to Side Pointing!)

I think my biggest challenge this week will be staying on course. Only taking my one rest day (Sunday) and the getting back into the business of working out. I have a tendency to lose focus and I take more rest days than I should (2 sometimes 3….it’s sad I know). Then when I finally do get back on track, I complain about how hard it has been for me to get this done. (All my fault I know, I know). So I am determined to finish out this week with a bang, no complaining about the challenge (fingers crossed people fingers crossed).

Till next time!

Down But Not Out!

I have been down lately, really down. Which means I have not been motivated to workout at all! Today, I am better, but not quite where I need to be, but I knew I needed to get back on the horse and workout or it would really be over for me.

The workout today focused on the upper body. They were trying to give my legs a break from all the lunges and squats I did during the last workout. Turns out that was completely unnecessary since I have not worked out since Tuesday. (I know, I know….Bad JJ) Emphasis was placed on my arms and shoulders. I also used my hips and got a little workout on my waist during the baseball and tennis exercises.

Summary

Workout: 15 out of 20

Calories Burned: 122.9

Workout Time: 14:37

Exercises Completed: 17 out of 17

Today’s Exercises

Alternating Standing Knee Crunches

Alternating Side Lunges with Toe Touches (2x)

Alternating Reverse High Knee Lunges (2x – I did really good on these my lunges are getting deeper…they don’t hurt any less but they are getting better)

Alternating Cross Knee Punches (2x)

Targets & Heavy Bag (Right/Left Jab, Right/Left Cross, Heavy Bag)

Bent Over Rows (2x)

Lateral Shoulder Raises (2x)

Front Shoulder Raises (2x)

Pitch, Catch & Bat (Baseball, I usually do really well on this exercise, today I missed EVERYTHING!)

Back Court, Front Court (Tennis)

Run, Walk (Long – I have said it before, and I will continue to say it until somebody hears me RUNNING IS NOT A COOL DOWN!)

Because I have been such a HUGE slacker this week, I followed up my 20 Day Challenge workout with a workout from FIT TV on Xfinity. There was not a lot of cardio in my first work out, so I went with Cardio Hip Hop with Kendra Kemerley (I swear this chick looks just like Macy of off MTV’s Teen Mom). She called this a feel good workout that combined hip hop moves  with an easy to follow choreographed routine. Easy to follow not so much (I am not as young as I used to be). It did get my heart rate up and worked out my mid section (my biggest trouble spot) and worked my legs as well.

See you next time!

Doing More

Once again today’s focus was on lunges. (Oh, how I hate thee lunges, let me count the ways…). “Get low,” they said, “aim for maximum height on the jump lunges,” they said, “put some power behind it.” (Kick Rocks, I said!)  The squat holds, PLUS the squats with calf raises almost did a sista in! It was complete torture. I worked my way through the never-ending stars circling around my head, and I made it through to the end! When I finally hit the floor, gasping and panting for breath, Coach Mookie was there (he is on the sick & shut in list today) cheering me on. (You did it momma, good job.)  Then he gave me the thumbs up sign, sideways. (Good times people, good times!)

I wanted to do something extra today. Something quick and easy, so I followed up my workout on the EA Sports Active for the Wii with a quick 8 minute Cardio Dance workout off of the FIT TV on Xfinity. They called it a quick cardio blast that would work my entire body in my quest for cardio fitness. Umm they did not lie. That Kendra Kemerley worked it out in those 8 minutes. She got my heart pumping and I used every inch of my body in the workout.

Now that I have sweated out my perm, I must go hit the showers.

Peace!

Have You Ever Seen….

That Slim Quick commercial where the cartoon character is talking about how her and her husband where going to lose weight together, and he gave up (insert something ridiculous here) and lost 40 million pounds, and she had been working her butt off and nothing was happening, but if she so much looked at (insert ridiculous item that husband gave up) she would gain back the 2 inches she lost?

THAT IS SO ME!

It is absolutely ridiculous how easy it is for my hubby to lose weight, while the only thing I am losing is my patience! He can eat everything in sight for 3 days straight and go to the gym ONCE in two weeks and lose 65.5 billion pounds. Me, not so much. I have to basically live on water, and the smell of food to lose weight, PLUS workout EVERY SINGLE DAY for the rest of my life and I still won’t lose as much weight as him.

Jealous much? you ask. Why yes I am! I want it to be easy for me too. I want to get up and look like a healthy super model. (I’m not into the skinny chick look so much, it just does not work for me. People usually ending up asking me if I am on something). I want to look like I work out, but not actually have to do it. (I know that does not make sense, but I am no longer rational.)

Since I have not given up completely (YET) I got up and went back to the EA Sports Active for the Wii. (By the way I really think my coach (who is not real) hates me). Today we did MORE lunges. Side to side, front to back, high lunges, low lunges, lunges, lunges, lunges. (I personally HATE lunges….ALOT!)
